last night, as we were coming home from a grand night out at ghost jail theatre (the sweetie pie brother is visiting from vancouver and i am trying to impress him with worldly delights), i discovered a very special something on the floor of a streetcar. it was a slightly crushed security envelope button. what kismet. i guess the world is finite and circular after all. i get excited enough when i see buttons i made on the backpacks of strangers but to have one returned to me by the fates...well, it was just too much.
so i am having a two-part contest to celebrate.
part one - if you think you lost this on the king/roncesvalles car on sunday, march 29th, 2009, then i will return it to you.
part two - if you want to win a care package of mysterious sweetie pie goods, then leave a comment under this post. and if you want a second entry, then say something nice about me on your own blog (you will have to leave a link in another comment here to get a second entry). entries must be posted by midnight (est) on friday, april 3. yup, this is a quicky.
after all, i have to return the favour to the gods of stuff and chaos. i can feel karmic debt looming over me as i type.

What a great thing! Every time I pay a bill, I think of you!
Is that weird?? (:
i heart care packs.
That button is gorgeous. I don't have a blog, but I will say that you are amazing and I can't wait to see you if that's still happening in May.
I would love a little bit of sweetie pie press in my life.
I did live in Toronto and now I live in New Zealand...and many of your buttons came with me. They now adorn the backpacks of various friends who will indeed knit till they die. I don't have a blog but I thought you might like to know there is a little group of islands in the South Pacific adorned by the Sweetie Pie Press.
I found a package marked 'buttons' wrapped in an old envelope yesterday. I opened it up to peer inside and realized they were in a security envelope.
I have never before wondered if I should run off with an envelope because someone in Canada might not have the pattern. I can't say that again.
Sadly, it was not mine to run off with, so I didn't. But I don't think I will ever look at security envelopes the same again. I had no idea it had changed my world! :D
Crazy! What are the odds? By the way, your little terrarium is incredible!
i definitely look at security envelope designs now thanks to your project....i admire your creativity, very inspiring.
That's amazing. :o
I would be so sad if I lost that beautiful button! I hope it finds its way back to the owner (lovely that it found its creator though).
i'd love to be entered but i don't live in canada... :P
I wish that was my button-- I want wallpaper outta that button. I hope I win the care package! I read your blog frequently- I was even inspired to make my own terrarium!
There is a letter for you at my blog. Please read it here,

Have an inspiring day Becky,
Vantiani.
Love that I found your blog via vanillavain! It is so great! I miss my brother and sister from Vancouver. I miss Canada in general...well maybe not Saskatchewan so much....who am I kidding even Saskatchewan is better than here.
aww so sad, but very neat that you happened to find it!
I sure hope I get to see cool becky again one of these days, and see her improv. I also hope I get a care package
blog love! (here)
that's so neat! I would have been so excited. I would love a care package... everyone in my dorm gets them all the time except me :(
i like this story...and have one also about a friend of mine in who found one of your pins (silhouette of a bird on grid background) on the street near his house in peterborough...he was with his 2 year old daughter and promptly pinned it to her jacket. it became her favorite thing and she still has it two years later.
that is so very strange and delightful :)
ps: your little toadstool below is just about the best thing i've seen all day.
I love all the buttons you do with all the interesting papers & materials. Those money ones are pretty cool!
It's nice to have reminders of the smallness of the universe, isn't it :)
Oh, I also mentioned you on my blog: http://www.funchico.com/2009/04/sweetie-pie-press-makes-funchico-buttons.html
that's a lovely security button but alas it's not mine. i've lost many of my spacing subway buttons, but haven't lost one of yours yet!

I'm not entering the contest, just letting you know how charming I think this post is.
Well gosh darn, I missed the contest. But I want to say that we think you are the bee's knees anyway:)
